Come cruising with us on the Hawkesbury Mail Boat, the famous Riverboat Postman, and enjoy the magnificent scenery of the lower Hawkesbury River as we deliver the mail and other essentials (the odd bottle of whiskey or rum...) to the river-access-only settlements upriver from Brooklyn. We leave the wharf at 10am each weekday except public holidays, regardless of the weather - after all, ‘the mail must get through’!
The first Riverboat Postman started the run in 1910, and the tradition continues today with Hawkesbury Cruises, the current custodian of this fabulous day trip. Our skippers are locals who have lived in the area their whole lives - be entertained by the stories of the river whilst cruising in comfort up this spectacular waterway. Be assured that at least 95% of what they say is true...
Our coffee is real, our tea is hot, and our famous ANZAC biscuits are home-made daily to Grandma's recipe. We’ll give you a pretty fine lunch too!
COVID-19 INFORMATION
After three more months of being tied to the wharf in 2021, and then having the Hawkesbury smashed by floods AGAIN, we think enough is enough! It’s time to refloat the boats and welcome everyone back to the magical Hawkesbury. Thank you all for your patience, your ongoing good wishes and your emails and calls asking when you can get a bit of river time again – NOW, is the answer! Hopefully you’ll help us get back to full capacity every day and make up for lost time. Proof of double vaccination may be required on days we host groups from aged care facilities which operate under the Government’s mandatory vaccination mandate, but we’ll make those days very clear on the availability calendar. If you don’t see it, it’s not required. All our boat crew are proudly double vaxxed.
We’ll tell you all about it when you come, but we haven’t been idle all this time. The fab crew have been delivering the mail in a tinny, rain, hail or shine, and some of those days have been windy as well. Not so much fun when the locals rediscovered Dan Murphy’s online and started ordering by the pallet…
So give us a call or book online anytime soon - we are really looking forward to welcoming you on board. We have a stringent safety plan in place to keep you and the other passengers and crew as far from each other as required (!), and an extra crew member on board each day to keep surfaces disinfected and everybody happy. Don't forget that all forward bookings are 100% refundable for any reason up to 48hrs prior. You can safely book a future date knowing that you can cancel or change the date if you need to. Please, though, let us know if you can’t make it so we have time to call someone from the waiting list.
